As we stayed only one (1) night, we were unable to fully asses the overall status of the hotel, however during that brief stay we were very comfortable and relaxed. It accomadated our needs.

Some of the lighting fixtures weren't working, plus the hair dryer didn't work.

the room was very clean and well maintain, it was a very comfortable stay...!!!

the only negative and its a big one, the weather was hot and the air conditioner was broken, so i had to sleep the first night in a very hot room, it was not fixed until the following morning,,,,Things like that should b fixed and maintained

        Nice.

I didn't like the fact that this was supposed to be 4 questions and you lied . It goes on and on

We stayed two nights in two different rooms (July 11 and 12, 2012). The first night was booked on-line -- we booked the rooms separately (as we weren't sure we would still be in the area the next day). The first night we were in Rm 257, it was nice and clean with 2 double beds, quite comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly. The girl at the front desk was very nice and helpful. We appreciate that you are a pet-friendly hotel, that is the main reason we booked with you as we were travelling with a small dog.

The second night my husband phoned the hotel to make a booking. The man that answered the phone said it would be no problem getting a room -- to just come in. He didn't even take our name or info so we figured, there must be some nice rooms still available. We were given a room at the back of the hotel on the first floor which would have been fine but the room did not have air conditioning and it was a very warm night. So, my husband phoned front desk and asked if we could have another room with air conditioning. The man at the front desk said he would do his best. So, as instructed we waited in the room to hear back from him...25 minutes later he rebooked us in another room on 2nd floor. This room was quite small, one double bed and was a long distance to walk. I believe the number was 236. We did not particularly like that room. The only good thing was the flat screen TV. We paid the same price for both rooms but the first one was much nicer. I believe the rate of $110 should have gotten us a nicer room than one with only one bed and so far from the main area. Also, the first night was booked online so all info was provided but once arriving at hotel, I still had to fill out a form to stay that night. I have not encountered that in years. Once you have a confirmed booking on-line and have used your credit card, I do not see why more info has to be filled out by hand. Yes, I agree with signing a form but having to fill one out is a minor irritation. If we ever stay at The Albatross again, we will ensure we book a room with two beds with air conditioning as it is a nicer room --- and one that is easier to access. Thank you for the opportunity to provide comments.

They have very friendly, excellent staff at the front desk. The rooms are adequate and comfortable. Great location right on the Trans Canada Route # 1. Very nice restaurant with courteous staff and good food.

        location. and management very understanding

was not told upon booking there would be a wedding taking place in a ballroon directly above us.....party contiuned until 430 am...did not get any sleep at all ...to be honest it was like being in the basement of a dance bar while the party was going on.... we stayed 2 nights... night one was fine but we should have been worned of our room when booking. called the night of the party to ask if anything can be done and was advised to call to talk to management in the morning, i was handled very well and based on the understanding of her i left with some content of the whole stay..i was given the second night free

Close to restaurant and the road on Trans Canada. Good breakfast at the hotel

Rooms use to be smoking rooms and you still can smell it. I would consider this place as a 2 stars no more.

The staff were so helpful and friendly, the bed was absolutely comfortable- the all around best sleep have ever had in a hotel, It was recommended to me by a drug rep from one of the top drug manufacturers in Canada who stays there quite often when he is in Gander, Newfoundland. He was spot on! Thanks so much i will definitely stay there next time I am in Gander!! Brenda Mercer

We chose the hotel because it was the same hotel we had stayed in 35 years before when we married. It was a trip down memory lane for us.

The hotel was fine, however the room was cramped and the bathroom was really not up to par. There was no place to even put your toothbrush. We did have a problem with the noise level. The salon above our wing was rented for a party on Sat. Night that started at 9:30pm and finally ended at 3:15am., After a secnd complaint from us. We felt that more thought should have gone into the arrangement of the party planning and the guest placement that night. We were not impressed with that. However, on a positve note, the staff were great and the meals in the restaurant were good, especially the breakfast.
